What is POSITIVE DOG TRAINING?
Positive dog training (AKA: R+, positive training, fear-free, force-free, rewards-based, clicker training and click & treat), is an umbrella term for a dog training philosophy, methodology, and ethics based on the
science of how dogs learn, think & feel. R+ trainers never use punishment of any kind opting instead to reward - with treats/toys/praise goal behaviors. This is the only truly humane way to train dogs or any other animal species.
Member of the Shock-Free Coalition
The basic principles of learning apply to humans & dogs alike so we should teach humans & dogs in similar ways. You should no more want to put a shock collar on your dog than you would your child.

Rewards based training (remember getting those gold stars back in the day?) is far better at cementing learning than punishment. Plus, you avoid the negative side effects of punishment based methods.
Positive Reinforcement also releases brain chemicals that promote happiness and motivation while punishment releases brain chemicals involved in stress or danger.
